2011 Guide Training

$500/person

Guides must be able to work from mid May through the end of August in order to be considered for employment. This course will provide a minimum of 50 hours of on-river training by a qualified instructor. Upon completion, each trainee will be certified to guide whitewater in the state of Colorado. Our course is constructed to provide trainees the skills they need to deal with most situations one should expect to encounter as a guide.

• Care and use of equipment
• Rigging Rafts
• Maneuvering Rafts
• River Features
• River Hazards
• Scouting and Running Rapids
• Orientation and Safety Talk topics given to guests
• Trip Organization and Trip Leader Responsibility
• River Rescue and Emergency Procedures
• Minimizing Outdoor Recreation Resource Impact
• Overnight River Trip Orientation raft trip and instruction

Training begins May 13th

Overnight camping on the Upper Colorado planned for the first weekend of training. Day trips to the Upper Colorado during the week will be dependent on individual trainee schedules and the weather. Second week of training will be on Clear Creek ending Memorial Day weekend.
